A total of 622 resident and migatory species of bird have been recorded for Borneo, with 32 endemic species. Interestingly, 24 of these endemics are found on either Sabah's hill slopes or in its montane forests.

- Danum Valley Conservation Area

3)Sabah's Freshwater Swamps and Floodplains:
- Kinabatangan River
- Gomantong Caves

4) Sabah's Coastal Regions:
- Likas Lagoon

5) Sabah's Plains & Ricefields:
- Kota Belud Bird Sanctuary

6) Sabah's Islands:
- Pulau Tiga
- Pulau Mantanani
- Semporna Islands (Mataking, Mabul, Sipadan)
- Pulau Layang-Layang
