Part 1 of 2: In mid-December 2008, close to the coldest, darkest day of the year, I decided to take a pre-Christmas drive from Terrace, BC to Watson Lake, Yukon, a distance of about 850 kilometers (just over 500 miles). I left at about 8 am in the morning darkness and most of my trip was in the light of day, but by late afternoon (4:00 pm or so), the sun had set and the evening darkness had set in. I mounted a small video camera on a tripod for the trip and accumlated almost 11 hours of video by the time the trip was done. I've sped this up and created a much shorter version - some 18 minutes - so that you could come on the trip with me. The temperature in Terrace was about -15C when I left, but dropped throughout the trip and was -45C in the Yukon when I arrived. I hope you enjoy the video - there are a couple of surprises in it!
