I'm SICK of being SICK! :( haha hey everyone, it's Sara with another video update...I'll try to make them shorter next time, but I did edit a bit! And as for better lighting, I gave up the search for the time that I'm sick...I will achieve the brilliant lighting of which I dream. Hope you someday actually watch the whole thing! And enjoy! And rate 5 stars to make me happy and subscribe because I have more videos coming all the time! :D God bless!

More south in Brazil, it's the area more settled by Europe so people have more German culture and possibly paler skin. More north is more rainforest-y and more native background..
Over all it's a really cool place and you should go!

@ByrdGangNigga15 Weeeelll here's the deal - I am white. Haha I mean I don't know personally how it would be, I mean it's not like a racist place or anything I suppose it would just be like anywhere where there could be some ignorant people who see things differently. I wouldn't be scared and I wouldn't let this discourage you or anything.
By mixed I mean basically in most parts of Brazil, there are no whites or blacks, everyone has the same cultural and ethnic background = Brazilian.

@saraz513 so blcks get trested differently there?? oh gosh im super scared now lol. And what do you mean everyone is mixed? like they have more than just brazilian in them? and racial tension? elaborate a little?

For the interviews - just be yourself. That being said, to be an exchange student of any length - our duty is to be an ambassador for Rotary and our country, we need to be responsible in our actions abroad. Yes exchange is VERY fun, but so many exchange students take it as an option to party for a year, and that's not the point. Make sure you let them know you're in it for this amazing experience of breaking boarders and fostering international relationships - Good luck!

However - I went to a super small more traditional town, so it was more oldschool about everything. In other locations it varies. I have a really good friend who is very dark and is from South Africa, she just moved there and she'd tell me about all the different situations she felt like people treated her a bit 'lesser'. I don't know...as you can tell from my videos, I'm quite white - I think it's beyond ridiculous that people still make this an issue but life's not perfect now is it..

Well it was super hard going without speaking portuguese - but either way I wouldn't have changed that, it's part of the experience.
Ok so basically in Brazil, everyone is mixed. Just that, however - that being said, there are the darker or lighter 'mixes' and typically the darker are the poorer and those lighter toned, maybe blue eyes or lighter hair, are basically the coolest - Brazil tends to pride itself in being a melting pot but there is a lot of racial tension...

@saraz513 What was it like for you going there without speaking portuguese? I heard there are a lot of black ppl there (i am black) so I want to know how diverse it is too im really up tight about that. uhm I still have to go through my intervies and stuff and im pretty sure its different for you since im doing short term and you did long term. but can you give me any advice on what the interviews are like and what not?

DO IT. Seriously it will open your eyes and mind and just give you such an amazing experience and memories! I didn't get any shots....I got medical checks just as basic Rotary Exchange qualifications but nothing special.
Seriously, if/when I have a chance to go back I am SO going back.
Tips-info wise - I don't know what to say other than go there without exceptions 'cause it's something that you can't really 'expect'...other than that I don't know what to say other than do you have questions?
