I agree, I thought Specials was just lacking in certain aspects that the first two books had. It seemed a bit forced for me. I enjoyed it, but I definitely don't feel the urge to re-read it. Have you read Extras?

The Specials wasn't that good for me. I really liked the Uglies and the Pretties but for some reason I really couldn't get into the book.

I agree. Specials didn't seem to intrigue my interest enough and became prosaic in my opinion. I agree with you all the way. Not as good as the first two.

I really liked the whole series as a unit, but they have their weak parts where the tempo slows down. All three books suffer from that. I think the storylines are kind of basic - the re-discovering you mentioned, and the love triangle that is beginning to irritate me in YA books these days - but the books pop out with all the futuristic details in a way that makes them unique. Also they are interesting from todays beauty-obsessed perspective.
