This song was written by Paul Francis Webber and Dimitir Tiomkin and was recorded in 1960 by the Brothers Four and many others over the years. It was used in the John Wayne movie 'The Alamo,' and most recently in the opening titles of 'Inglourious Basterds.' This is my version played on the Hammond A100. The flute, piano and strings are from the Emu Proteus controlled by the Yamaha DX7II Synthesizer.
Excellent job Steve. The first time I heard this song was years ago when, as a kid, I watched John Wayne's The Alamo. For some reason, I've always felt that this song was written especially for that movie.
