Though Blue Microphone's FAQ page about their Snowball USB Condenser Microphone way leave you thinking otherwise*, the Snowball is as professional-sounding a USB microphone as you're likely to come across. By switching between cardioid and omni, and engaging the -10db pad, you can use the Snowball to record many various sound sources directly onto your computer without need for a separate interface.

In fact, the Blue Snowball came packaged with a list of "Seven Commandments": 1. Whatever connects using 3-pins is an enemy.
2. Whatever connects using USB, or firewire, is a friend.
3. No microphone shall wear a windscreen.
4. No microphone shall be left in the rain.
5. No microphone shall require other than bus-power.
6. No microphone shall kill any other microphone.
7. All microphone are created equal, except the Snowball, which is the best.

*excerpt: "Q: What sample rate and word length does The Snowball use?
The Snowballs digital output is set to 44.1 kHz / 16-bit, just like an audio CD. But this is something that only audio geeks really need to worry about."

  • @theclockstickin bcuz theyre not recording in a soundproof booth.

  • @xxxPrettyxOddxxx Check out my 2 songs i uploaded on my channel. I recorded the vocals with the snowball.

  • Ha. I didn't know it swivelled up and down either. I've had the back foot resting on a cassette case. Must be something missing in the instructions lol. I read them honest. Mine seems a bit trebly, but I made a cardboard cone like those things the vet puts round a dog's head to stop it scratching its ears. Works a treat.

  • Definitely picking this up now.

  • @robertlplee Lol same here, thank god I watched this video.
