@Troop66Guide If he's in Michigan then the furthest south he can be is 41 degrees. Given that this was in September, the highest the sun will rise is 49 degrees above the horizon.

ok ur video said it was close to noon so why r u at such a low angle, put the lens between the sun and the tinder to get more energy concentrated

Heres a tip. Face the rough side towards the sun. it focuses the sun better.

@Chrisfragger True - but 12x12 might not fit in a wallet as a backup for wilderness survival purposes.

It's difficult because you are using a rediculessly small lens. Not trying to be rude but you can get yourself a 12x12 for pretty cheap like 10 bucks usd.
