i understand the point she was making, however there are only two biological genders, with the exception of intersexed which is in-between. she is discussing gender identity with the others.

@Chimero100 sex is your biological anatomy etc, for example, whats between your legs, hormones etc, and gender is the more social and psychological aspect. so there are two sexes, yes (with the exception of intersexed). but there are not only two genders.

Why should it matter? Men and women are the only ones who can make children.

It does matter in society, but I would argue it should only matter in Psychology research and strategies for counseling. Until we are no longer a dichotemy society (labelling everything either A or B) then it matters for raising consciousness, addressing gender identity issues (especially when they conflict with the current model of 'normality'), etc. If only we could just all say "who gives a f*ck?" but we need these classifications right now. Life's not a peach... yet.
