This is a video of a Hawaiian Monk Seal named KP2 swimming with a dog named mac at the Wharf on Molokai. The Monk Seal is in the wild but was raised by Scientists because his mother died.

  • I just googled KP2 to see his status & sure enough, he started clasping people (like they do when they mate), biting, and now is being removed from the wild. If people could just use restraint & watch these animals from 100-150 feet away, they'll have an amazing experience & see natural behaviors. As soon as they start treating it like a dog, they condemn the animal. Can NOAA really let a seal drown a human? How would Molokai residents feel with a little girl bit on the face?

    It's a shame.

  • A bite isn't necessary to transmit diseases between seals and dogs, just breathing the same air will do it. As for the cute dog, the SEAL could also get the DOG sick.

Speaking of biting, what if the wild seal bit one of those beautiful kids? Sorry you're offended by information sharing, but surely if more people knew this, they wouldn't let their kids hug a wild animal or put their dogs at risk. Nevermind abt endangering a population of seal that exists in Hawaii and nowhere else on earth!

  • Seriously 808darwin? It looked like that dog was gonna bite his head off! I'm glad you enlightened us with your gay comments!

  • Did you know that the Hawaiian monk seal is one of the most endangered marine mammals in the world? Please use restraint when viewing these animals in the wild and stay 100 feet away at all times.

    Keep dogs away from seals.

Contact with humans or dogs may transmit diseases; an epidemic could cause the seals' extinction.

  • Cool.
