PART 2 of 3:
A quality made tactical Crossdraw vest is a excellent option to carry a limited weapons loadout and associated gear. I say you should always work backwards in deciding on an appropriate Load Bearing Equipment (LBE) system; just dont buy a tactical nylon vest and try to fill it up. Always think in systems. Realistically evaluate what tactical capabilities you will need in regards to ammo, secondary armaments (handgun, knives, non-lethal options like pepper spray and Asp batons), optics, food, first aid, etc. This equipment might be essential for many defensive scenarios such as the collapse of law and order (Without the Rule of Law or WROL), US military combat operations, and some Law Enforcement scenarios as well.. Tailoring these items to your anticipated engagement scenario will prevent excess weight carried and will improve your mobility and stamina. Dont carry more than you will need. There are indeed lots load bearing systems available now from different makers and many offer excellent versatility, toughness, and cargo capability. If you could be engaged in a knock-down-drag-out, full-on firefight in Afghanistan then there are better loadout systems than a Crossdraw vest. However either a BlackHawk or TacForce brand Crossdraw vest will suit most civilian sheepdogs and even some military or Law Enforcement users. It can be an Overt OR Covert carry system and I classify its capabilities as Medium. Its benefits are numerous: no extra pouches to buy and configure, adequate ammo capabilities for both pistol and tactical carbine (for many scenarios), comfort in use, ability to adjust to clothing layering, accommodation of CamelBak bladder, accessory pouches and interior zip pouches hold additional gear, breathable mesh is comfortable and lightweight (unlike many heavier solid Cordura vests), high traction shoulder pad for rifle butt placement (mod shown), excellent and versatile handgun holster, fast zipper donning and doffing, back BTS webbing offers versatility, web belt attachment expands capabilities, and overall it is a lightweight load carrying option. Downsides of a Crossdraw vest might include: slower handgun access and replacement, no provisions for body armor integration, and the Velcro attachments will wear out and can get snow-clogged (from experience). But such a vest remains a cost effective, versatile, high-value GRAB AND GO gear solution for a wide variety of combat scenarios and it has withstood the test of time. ////////////////////Nutnfancy Likeability Scale: 9 out of 10

    Love ya tho, Nutn!

  • @nutnfancy That would be awesome if I could find these Tacforce CD vests in multi-cam. If you find them in multi-cam let me know where, peace.

  • Just got my BLACKHAWK Omega Elite crossdraw vest in OD green. Just like you said, NutN...very good product. I'm looking forward to customizing mine to my taste as you did with yours. I'll be continuing to watch your reviews (I'm thinkin about putting that Buck Hoodlum knife on my Christmas list this year). ;o)

  • Yeah the tube on the vest is innecessary.

  • That vest is identical, in terms of construction, to a Rap4 vest I used for paintball. I like the higher quality zipper on the other vest, although I own some jackets and bags that have much higher quality zippers than the plastic looking zipper.

  • would you suggest this for smaller people or airsoft? and Thank You For Serving Our Country

  • well the knife has a clip im sure u could clip it onto something on your vest and stick another magazine in there nd then put the knife on your pocket
