Fireworks Held
The evening of fireworks commemorating the Day of the Sun "My Country Where the President's Wishes Have Become Reality" was held with splendor here on Wednesday evening.
The bank of the River Taedong facing the Tower of the Juche Idea and its adjourning streets were crowded with citizens from all walks of life who came to enjoy the significant evening of fireworks.
Among the spectators were senior officials of the party, army and state, the chairpersons of the friendly parties, officials of the party, armed forces and power bodies, working people's organizations, ministries and national institutions, servicepersons of the Korean People's Army, officials in the fields of science, education, culture and arts, public health and media, heroes and those of merit.
Present there on invitation were overseas compatriots' delegations, overseas Koreans, foreign delegations and delegates and other foreign guests on a visit to the DPRK, diplomatic envoys of various countries and representatives of international organizations here and the chief of the Pyongyang Mission of the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front.
Kim Ki Nam, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, in his speech said that the evening of fireworks was also provided thanks to the firm will and intense loyalty of General Secretary Kim Jong Il to enable the people to fully enjoy happiness in all aspects just as the fireworks to be displayed in the sky would present a scenery of all kinds of flowers and thus realize the lifetime desire of President Kim Il Sung without fail.
The evening of fireworks will demonstrate before the world the inexhaustible mental power and indomitable spirit of the servicepersons and people of the DPRK to surely open the gate to a great prosperous and powerful nation in 2012, the centenary of birth of the President, single-mindedly rallied around Kim Jong Il with the firm faith that the President is always with us, he stressed.
As the evening of fireworks began, fireworks were displayed in the sky above the Tower of the Juche Idea to the tune of the song "Great Torrent of Yearning".
Kaleidoscopic fireworks and a variety of rays turned the nocturnal sky as bright as day.
Seen in succession on the peculiar electronic displays set up in the middle of the river shrouded in wet fog were slogans "General Kim Il Sung Is Our Sun", "We Will Live Forever with the President", etc. and scenes showing the immortal revolutionary feats of President Kim Il Sung and the stirring reality of Songun era, the prosperous era of the Workers' Party of Korea, in which the ideals of the people are coming true.
The venue of the evening was reminiscent of a grand festival where all kinds of flowers were in full bloom as fireworks of various colors and shapes turned the nocturnal sky more beautiful and laser, electronic lightings and other lighting arts reached the height of ecstasy.
Kim Ki Nam, addressing the evening of fireworks at its end, stressed that the display of fireworks in April represented a gun-salute for an all-out charge to more dynamically push ahead with the on-going march for a great surge to radically improve the people's standard of living by putting spurs to the development of light industry and agriculture once again with the same vim and vigor with which they brought about a turning phase in the drive for building a thriving nation under the leadership of the great Party.
The evening of fireworks powerfully demonstrated the firm faith and will of the servicepersons and the people of the DPRK to successfully accomplish the cause of building a great prosperous and powerful nation, holding the President in high esteem as the eternal sun of Juche and remaining true to the Songun idea and leadership of Kim Jong Il.
