Blackhawk makes quality stuff. I know because I've personally used it hard and it has never failed me. Also, unlike some other manufacturers who price some of their tactical nylon in the stratosphere, there are several examples of tactical nylon within Blackhawk nylon that remain affordable. This high value formula has brought success and allowed expansion into other tactical items such as knives, clothing, holsters, slings, gloves, lighting products (a bit $), and gun accessories. There's lots to see in the expansive Blackhawk 2010 SHOT Show booth and I do my best hitting the highpoints of the gear. But true to the Nutnfancy way, this isn't just a free mike for the manufacturer but a chance to discuss some criticisms, high points, and pricing of the Blackhawk gear as I see it. Our host is Blackhawk's VP of Marketing Terry Naughton and he is knowledgeable on his merchandise and did a good job of fielding the questions, even the tough ones, that I posed. With many of their items Blackhawk, adheres to their original high value formula and lots of their tactical nylon items are as good as any in the world and yet won't break your bank account. Their "Omega Crossdraw" and other vests are still outstanding (although prices have crept up over the years) and they come in excellent colorations (their shade of Desert Earth is the best out there). These ready-to-go vests will offer most dudes a lower cost complete LBE system that won't need additional pouches. And there are many other high value squared-away rigs in the BH lineup as well: "Modular Low Profile Chest Rig" (shown in photo in intro), the "BH Chest Pouch" (just $56 retail, well-made, lightweight, outstanding ammo carrier), "Command Chest Harness" (not shown, carries LOTS of mags), "Lightweight Commando Recon Chest Harness" (high speed plate carrier, ok price, needs pouches), and "Special Operations Holster" (an affordable Nutnfancy favorite that fits all service pistols) are a couple of examples. A brief tour of the knife counter, the Knoxx recoil stocks, SERPA holsters, BH Lightweight Phoenix pack (only 2.6 lbs), and their HPFU with ITS (tourniquet system) uniforms completes the visit. It's great to see that Blackhawk is working towards lightening the weights of the gear...most excellent. I would also like to see a continued push towards the lower price points as well on these gear items (while maintaining quality): a 2200 cube backpack retailing at $216 is a bit much. But there's still lots of great gear at BlackHawk and the smart shopper can still score a long lasting gear there for less (military/LEO guys get a discount on their website too). Thanks to Terry for the fun visit! ////////////// Music by

  • At 31:00 he says they had issues qualifying officers in the shotgun. For us we use a shorter barreled shotgun which in turn has increased recoil and we shot multiple phases and stages with reloads, transitions, ranges. And it's one of the Coast Guard's easiest things to shoot. Just curious as to why they or he had issues with people qualifying.

  • you ever try that 10/22 rig out?

  • @nutnfancy Wish I coulda been there, too. Then again, I probably would've sank 10 grand if I were XD

  • Blackhawk serpa system is awesome

  • aw thank the lord. i clicked, and once the vid started i thought you were talking about blackhawk.. but then a fifteen minute interview, thanks!!!

  • @whatever7x7 That is actually pretty scary. Wasn't it Patagonia that had a harness go bad on them? It's a lawsuit in the making.

  • I just picked up a blackhawk X3 raptor pack for $100. It's got more connecting points than I know what to do with. It has a built in jump harness. I could really use tutorial on it! They don't make it any more, alas.

  • Man! Terry knew his stuff! Kudos to him. I have tons of Black hawk and fox outdoor gear combined and the funny thing is: both systems work well integrated with each other unlike other systems when you combine 2 different brands!
