Deconversion is one of the hardest things you will go through. I felt as if I lost my best friend. This series is so well done. It should have a billion views. Thank you for taking the time to put this together.

Sorry about the typos. This is an emotional rant because the pressure to convert is mounting and I feel helpless. I will never believe in the insecure, self-obssessed Christian god. I will never buy creationism.

Deconversion, or for that matter any transitional change in one's fundamental beliefs, is excruciating. That is why those who love truth for truth's sake are more willing to do so than those who love the comfort believing themselves to have certain knowledge from on high. John Locke's chapter on enthusiasm (in his Essay Concerning Human Understanding) opened my eyes quite a bit.

Don't close your eyes and try convince yourself that someone was torched and killed because you've been led to believe that you're a guilty sinner destined for hell if you don't. Feel yourself from the emotional manipulation of Christianity, open your eyes, look in the mirror and discover who is really there - YOU.

Life is a journey, not a destination.

I watched the whole series. As a former LDS missionary, now humanist atheist, you gave voice to so many of the thoughts and reflections I too encountered on my journey. Your narrative is a moving accomplishment of really articulating both sides of the experience. Thank you.

@rbaxter119 You cannot simply believe something to be true because you want to believe. There is no evidence that Jesus ever existed let alone died for anyone's "sins". Humans are not born defective. I don't need "forgiveness for sins" because only I can correct my mistakes. I don't need forgiveness from anyone else but the person I've wronged. I can say the same thing to you though, maybe one day you will be an atheist. One day you might look beyond the god box in your brain.

@jisaid08 God is able to make you a Christian. Maybe someday you shall have an inclination to read the Bible and God will give you faith and a new nature or the Holy Ghost.

I would be as you are but for the grace of God. I know that you have no ability to be a Christian and will never be one unless God make you one. Jesus died on the cross for sinners and rose from the dead. The Scriptures are true. May God give you the grace so that you can believe. You can have forgiveness of your sins.
