It's an idea I read somewhere years ago and it is a great idea. I use it all the time not only for model building but most things that I do on my work table. It's about as flat a surface as you'll find, and being able to put the instructions under it is a great bonus. Thanks for watching!

An enjoyable tutorial! Nice work on the station.
A piece of duct tape, taped to the handle of the Xacto knife like a flag, will keep that knife from rolling off the workbench and stabbing your foot.

I love this little station! It has character and adds real ambience to an early steam layout. There a few 'fixes required to make it 'n' scale. The doors are too big and should be replaced with grandt line 'n' scale replacements. It's a fudge factor to scale down the openings but I think it is worth the time. If you place an 'HO' figure on the platform you'll see what I mean. They fit really well so you can use this in HO also with no changes. Great video & excellent construction guide! Thanks!
The windows are glued on wrong. They get glued to the inside of the walls, not the outside, like you have them.

Hi Hans,
I just follow the instructions and look at the model pix. All but the dormers are glued as per the instruction. The dormer windows have a neat little sash that does not show if glued to the inside, so my personal choice was to do it this way because to me it looks better. Your mileage may vary and you create your own world so please do it however you wish. I usually stick fairly close to the instructions, I just chose a variation this time.
