At first glance, this prototype of the 2011 Porsche Boxster looked like it might be an early prototype for a low-slung Speedster model. But after taking a closer look and noting that this test mule has a standard-height windshield, our suspicions turned toward another possibility — four-cylinder power.

Yes, that's right, Porsche is considering a four-cylinder power plant for the next-generation Boxster. Ever-tightening fuel and emissions standards mean that even Porsche must start considering its fleet average if it wants to sell mid-priced sports cars without huge gas-guzzler taxes.

  • @blackfurrymonkey their making a 2.5 boxer engine themself so he talks shit lol

  • what nonsense is he talking about...he said the engine might be the same engine used in audi TT? boxster will always use a boxer engine and i doubt porsche will roll out a turbo that is entry level...clearly shows a bunch of amateurs commenting on this

  • Sorry, but this doesn't look like the entry model!

Look at the yellow brake pistons - typically used for Porsche's ceramic breaks.

Also: the double exhaust always used for the Boxster S or Cayman S models...

But ups - the video is already end of 2009 - it just might be the Boxster Spyder...

A V6? That`s something even I have never seen in a Boxster ^^. Putting aside the fact that the middle engine arrangement of the Boxster makes it impossible to implement a V6, the real engine is mentioned in the name: Boxster => Boxer/Roadster. So it`s a boxer not a V...

Also, I respect the 350, but a Porsche isn`t just about those things you mentioned. There is also the Porsche Myth. Although I have to say that this might only be true for Europe.

  • Completely wrong!

  • I'm sorry I know this video is old but they must hav not even looked at the car it clearly has twin exhausts and the hump. It is pretty obvious tht this wasn't going to b any kind of base model.

  • @phantome666 umm no this the entry level one he said it in the vid get ur facts straight bro
