It's a spinoff so it pretty much exists in it's own world seperate from City Hunter. Keeping that in mind, I doubt it would conflict with fans of City Hunter. The mangaka probably wanted to explore some darker elements that weren't available in City Hunter due to the shounen rating and Kaori's effect on Ryo.

@Shunmaha Yeah, "alive in the heart of a teenage" don't count. Which also reminds me is that it's a little weird that they brough such an impossible element for a series that, for the most part, was grounded to reality.

I liked this just a wee bit better than City Hunter, but I wonder what the author was thinking with one plot point... "Hmmm, I think I'll begin this new series by killing off a major character of my previous one! That won't make the fans of City Hunter feel insulted at all!" Other than that, a most excellent series.
