@LowridaSweden Yes. Wool wih epoxy. Cheap and light. But nowdays cars use similar materials. Carbon, fiberglas, .... Soon there will be very strong ekofriendly plastic from bannas or bamboo.

I can think of no better use for these little junkers. Duroplast is very toxic when burned. This is the only car that the "average" East German could get, and even at that, they had to pay in full up front, and take what ever car happened to have your name on it. Took many years to get one for most people. As with most things in communist countries, supply could not come close to meeting the demand.
