On a recent trip to Ethiopia, Amy Coen, President/CEO of Population Action International, had the opportunity to meet Dr. Bogaletch Gebra - affectionately called "Boge" - who is spearheading a national campaign to end the practice of female genital mutilation (FGM). They participated in a rally of over 15,000 girls, mothers, fathers and village elders who demonstrated their commitment to ending FGM in their communities. It takes a commitment from every level of a society to triumph over a traditional practice that has been performed for centuries in some communities and rallies like this one bring the world even closer to ending to this form of human rights abuse.

  • I can't believe the Ethiopean population has doubled since Saint Bob was there 25 years ago. Some famine.

  • Hugh Moore, the wealthy Dixie cup magnate turned fanatical population bomber, started Population Action International. Moore funded early efforts to legalize abortion in support of his population reduction goals. His organization will wear any mask to hide their imperialistic intention to contracept, sterilize and abort as many people as possible. DO NOT BE FOOLED, PAI is a cunning enemy of unborn children and women. For them, every aborted child is a statistical victory.

  • Bravo !! Keep up the great work. FGM is the most disturbing thing ever.

When I first heard of FGM (about ten years ago) I actually did not believe what I reading. I put down the magazine without a thought. Then a few days later there was another story in a medical journal, and I nearly tossed my lunch.

"It's our culture" is so lame for justifying this practice.

  • Thank You!

    That was inspiring!
