  • "From the desert to the sea to all of Southern California, good evening here is the news at 6" Epic Jerry Dunphy open.

  • Check out Ron Burgundy at 2:35 :P I heard that

  • Look how young Tawny Little is. Wow.

  • This was back in the day before the local news bought into the "If it bleeds, it LEADS" philosophy!!! I miss those days!!!

  • Anyone know what happen to Tawney Little

  • @MrMichaelChua did Jerry have the night off.

  • @wmbrown6 I noticed in 1978 KABC used the KGO and WABC style mics before they switched to the Square mics flags in 1980. while KGO did not start using square mic flags until 1990.

  • The other thing: KABC was the only one of the ABC O&O's not to use a tape dub of the "Cool Hand Luke/Tar Sequence" edit that originated nearly a decade before at sister station WABC in New York. Rather, the L.A. station fashioned their own edit. (About a year later, KGO in San Francisco, after years of using said tape dub, likewise made their own edit based on WABC's.)

  • The only question to all you out there is, which of KABC's staff announcers was on duty this night? It certainly wasn't Len Beardsley, and Mike Laurence and Dean Webber can be likewise ruled out. (Yes, I know many of the voices in certain parts of the country, but can't really pin this one down.) Who else besides them and Ed Chandler would've been among the boothers at KABC back in '78?
