**Update** 9/26/10 If you have some type of other wired network, like a modem, or wireless usb modem, you should watch the intro then skip to 2:25. This process can work with internet connections other than tethering from your cellphone.
**UPDATE** 2/11/2010
Using ad hoc networking and ICS (internet connected sharing) only has one flaw, the network defaults to a different IP address once you disconnect. eg. Once I turn off my ipod touch, and turn it back on, the ad hoc's ip address goes to a default number (losing internet, very frustrating). BUT I'll tell you how you can fix this therefore making your ad hoc router everlasting. Once you do finish using my video and your using your laptop as a router. Go ahead and click "View Status" next to your new ad hoc connection on your Network and Sharing page. It will only appear if, at least, two users are using it. Once clicked, go to view details and write down the IP address, subnet mask, and the DNS server numbers. Now restart the process of the video, from scratch, this time don't use the bridge, Use "Wireless Network Connection". Right click on your wireless adapter in "Manage network connections" (If you decide to keep the bridge right click that instead) In the first tab within a scroll box, there should be some items, highlight Internet Protocol Version 4 and then click properties. This is where the ad hoc goes from automatic IP to manual IP, so we want to click "Use the following IP address", same for the DNS server, and put in the numbers we got from before. Exactly as you saw them. Now your ad hoc network will work for as long as you keep your laptop on, instead of how long both, or however many, users stay connected! If you have a question go ahead and comment I will reply ASAP.
** I've been poking around my network connections lately, and thought I show you guys how I browse the internet. By the way what I say at the ending is true, you can play xbox live off this connection I made. For me that meant playing xbox 360 in my car while my family drives 8 hours to NY. But I have yet to fit my 42inch tv into my 07 scion tc....too small. Although I used a Samsung Eternity, which all of you might not have, the basic way to turn your laptop into an access point are here. As long as your laptop has internet from anything BUT your wireless adapter, then we can use that adapter for this proccess. Make sure your adapter can create an ad hoc network. For some reason when I updated my adapter's driver, it stopped working, so I had to "roll-back", or downgrade, it's version. Using the network bridge is essential. Remember, to create a bridge, you need two sides. It will not automatically want to bridge to your dial-up connection, therefore you need to make a temporary bridge from your adapter to one of your inactive connections. Once the bridge is created, then you can knock off the inactive connection, and the video explains the rest. Good luck!

@gavran12345 hi gavran. To answer your question, no, it's not possible to do this. The reason why is because a laptops wireless adapter can only have one function. it can receive signal, or send signal, never both at the same time. Thanks for commenting :D

@ReturnxToxSender Studies have shown that this most definitely can happen. Dont forget to put a fire wall on.
