Obey was making sense to me. I understand this woman is concerned for her son, but she has not been in congress like this Rep has. He has most likely already considered anything that she is talking about.

Rep. Obey is one of the most liberal members of the house, if not the most liberal. If anyone is against Bush's war of aggression, it's Obey.
He is extremely popular his district. In fact, he's been elected every two years since 1969.
As a ranking member on his committee, he is likely to get political contributions. While you may be right about the money you cite, you have to be honest and admit that the money is always spent in the campaigns. It's not as if he is personally enriched.

His soldier buddies are either dead, in jail, addicted to drugs or homeless. All have sent him letters of respect. How many times have you fought over in Iraq? Fallujah?

Dave Obey is an exceptional congressman. Im looking forward to reading his book that has recently come out. I like how he properly identifies that woman as an idiot liberal. She gives us a bad name with her non-sense policy ideas.

those non-sense policy ideas where actually real legislation that was introduced by his colleagues that he was blocking from coming to the appropriations floor. His response that this supplemental was going to end the war seems more non-sensical then his colleagues.
