Inviting historical condemnation. That's heavy. Fail to act, and you stand to lose all that we hold dear. Goddamit, Christopher! Fuckin cancer.

left equals hypocrisy.considering of course its past.
all the good intentions aside.
a lot of good and educated people have a soft spot in their heart for it.
feelings must not define what it is.

I like John Stuart Mill's view about using the government as a despot agent in order to stop a serious threat to society like slavery or the massacre of innocents. The Noam Chomsky followers don't seem to get this, complaining about injustice doesn't fix it. One example of how I believe the anti-war left has failed in helping their fellow humans is Darfur, arguing the evil deeds America has done with its power whenever an intervention is purposed allows the innocent to be slaughtered.

Hitchens lives! I never thought I'd miss someone I did not know personally, what he said changed me. I do not agree with everything he said, but I love him for his courage.

@Mishkafofer Thanks for the clarification. I was making Chomsky's point that we should look at ourselves instead of blaming our enemies (their own population has the duty to criticise their government). The difference is that Hitchens wants enemies to beat (his upbringing I suppose), Chomsky wants us to stop supporting governments/regimes/terrorists (because after a while, we'll just blame them for using the guns and ammo they bought from us). But the Chomsky/Hitchens split went deeper since 911

this is aimed at Chomsky mentioning East Timor. Chomsky is just pointing out the hypocracy. America gets attacked and everyone flips thier shit yet when an entire island of peaceful people gets slaughtered no-one gives a shit and it's kept quiet. I like hitchens views about religion but his political philosophy is absurd, making government huge is a BIG FAILURE WE'VE SEEN IT TIME AND TIME AGAIN
