How To Farm Herbs

Patches:
*Ardougne
*Catherby
*Morytania (requires "Priest In Peril")
*Draynor
*Trollheim (requires "My Arm's Big Adventure")(disease-free)

Items:
*Seeds (herbs, flowers, evil turnip)
*Farming tools (rake, seed dipper, spade)
*Magic secateurs (requires "Fairy Tale I - Growing Pains")
*Magic watering can (requires "Fairy Tale III - Orks Rift")
*Supercompost or runes for "Fertile Soil" (requires 83 Magic & "Lunar Diplomacy")
*Juju farming potion (requires 64 Herblore, 70 Farming & 74 Hunter)
*Falador shield 3, 4
*Explorer's ring 3, 4
*Ardougne cloak 3, 4
*Trollheim tablet (requires "Do No Evil") or teleportation runes
*Ectophial (requires "Ghosts Ahoy")
*Catherby (requires 87 Magic & "Lunar Diplomacy") or Camelot teleportation runes

Falador shield 3+ increases XP gained and yield by 10% at the Draynor farming patches.

Magic secateurs increases herb yield by 10% all over RuneScape.

Ardougne cloak 3 can teleport you to the Ardougne patch once a day. The fourth cloak has unlimited charges.

You can make supercompost by letting 15 pineapples rot in a compost bin. The rotting process takes up to an hour and a half. 40 pineapples can be bought daily at Arhein in the Catherby general store.

It is ideal to end your farming run at Catherby as the bank is nearby.

Farming flowers and evil turnips is optional, but increases profits. It is definitely worth using supercompost on herb patches as this will increase their disease resistance and minimum yield, but applying some on flower patches is optional.

You can note farmed items, i.e. herbs, flowers and evil turnips, by using them on a leprechaun.

Trollheim tablets can be obtained after completing "Do No Evil" by bringing the Wise Old Man Runvastr's miner's diary which can be obtained by him in east Keldagrim.

Juju farming potions are definitely necessary when farming expensive herbs, but are optional for lower-costing ones. They require 64 Herblore, 70 Farming and 74 Hunter to produce and theoretically increases herb yield by approximately 33%. One sip lasts 5 minutes.

Additionally, if using juju farming potions, it is ideal to start your farming trip at the Trollheim patch and drink a sip once at the actual patch so the effect won't run out as easily.

Herb plants cannot be watered, but flowers can. Water them so increase their disease resistance.

It is worth nothing that the Trollheim patch cannot disease your herbs. You should still use supercompost, however, as it will increase your minimum yield as stated earlier. Farming more expensive herbs here is less risky.
