While He yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud which said, This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased: hear ye Him" (vs. 5). The mention of the "bright cloud" here is deeply significant, the more so as it was out of it that the Voice of God was heard speaking. This was the "Cloud" which had been withdrawn from Israel centuries before but which now suddenly appeared again. This was the "Cloud" in which Jehovah appeared of old - the Cloud of the Shekinah glory. It was the "Cloud" which filled the Tabernacle - "Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the Lord filled the Tabernacle" (Ex. 40:34). This was the "Cloud" which guided Israel throughout their wilderness wanderings - "And when the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the children of Israel went forward in all their journeys: but if the cloud were not taken up, then they journeyed not till the day that it was taken up" (Ex. 40:36, 37). This was the "Cloud" in which Jehovah appeared in the Holy of Holies upon the mercy-seat (Lev. 16:2). This was the "Cloud" which filled the Temple of Solomon (1 Kings 8:10). Little wonder then that the disciples "fell on their faces and were sore afraid" (vs. 7)! The appearing of the Shekinah "Cloud" on the mount of transfiguration was the intimation that it shall be visible to Israel again in the Millennial Kingdom. That it will be is further evident from the prophecy of Is. 4:5 - "And the Lord will create upon every dwelling-place of Mount Zion, and upon her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day, and the shining of a flaming fire by night: for above all the glory shall be a defense" - the context here, shows that this has reference to the Millennium. See further Ezek. 43.

the sequel to the Transfiguration was equally wonderful in its typical signification, and was needed to complete this spectacular setting forth of the Redeemer's Return to the earth. "And when they were come to the multitude, there came to Him a certain man, kneeling down to Him, and saying, Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is a lunatic, and sore vexed: for oftentimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water.** And Jesus rebuked the demon: and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour" (vss. 14, 15, 18). What a sight was this which confronted our Lord and His disciples as they came down from the "holy mount"! What a picture of Israel in particular and of the world in general! Thus will it be at the time of our Lord's Return to this earth. The first thing which the Saviour did after He had given the disciples a vision of His glory in the coming Kingdom, was to cast out a demon; and the first thing He will do when He returns to the earth, will be to cast out the Devil and secure him for a thousand years in the Bottomless Pit (Rev. 20:2, 3). God hasten that blessed day

Referring back to this experience, Peter identifies the event as a sample of Jesus coming. For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty. For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. 2 Peter 1:16-17.

  • The signs are about the destruction of the temple, not the second coming.

  • How do you explain Mark 13?

“‘the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; 25 the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.’26 “At that time people will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory. 27 And he will send his angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of the heavens... 30 Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened.

  • Thats hilarious. He was saying according to this video

  • @jesuscomingsoon11 Einstein believed in Spinoza's God, which is very different from your idea of "God the Creator". Look it up in Wiki and educate yourself.

  • In the Clouds literally is correct. There are people who have seen him come in the Clouds. The Bible does not lie.

  • @jesuscomingsoon11 And thats not to mention the many brilliant composers, musicians, artists and so on.

  • Nice use of history with stephen langton. Not a believer but nice.

  • @96rorrim Yes I do rimmer. Here is a Fairy Tale you are stupid enough to believe............There is NO GOD.

  • A List of Scientists who Believe in God The Creator: Nicholas Copernicus (1473-1543) Sir Francis Bacon (1561-1627) Johannes Kepler (1571-1630) Galileo Galilei (1564-1642) Rene Descartes (1596-1650) Isaac Newton (1642-1727) Robert Boyle (1791-1867) Michael Faraday (1791-1867) Gregor Mendel (1822-1884) William Thomson Kelvin (1824-1907) Max Planck (1858-1947) Albert Einstein (1879-1955)
  • @96rorrim i) Because creation can not create it self. ii) The Bible accuratle predicts and fulfills prophecy. iii) The name Jesus is the only name that demons must obey, and the only name which stops alien abduction, sleep paralysis etc which is demonic, I became a Christian after a period of demonic harassement and manipulation, after several years of practicing occultism. God set me free from that evil by His Son Jesus. I am the only Christian in my family.

  • @96rorrim I was raised atheist. I became Christian at age 25. First dispensationalist, then preterist postmillenialist. I believe we are living in the Kingdom now. I don't think the black sun and red moon is literal, but is apocalyptic in nature and speek of judgement. The great day of the Lord was 70 AD. All people are being judged according to God's sovereign election. The firts resurrection in Rev 20:4-6 is becoming a born again Christian, before that we were dead (Eph 2:1-5). Good day Sir.

  • So god created a universe with over 3 septillion (3000000000000000000000000) planets, and he did it all just for man. But THEN he puts man on only ONE planet, it’s one of the SMALLEST of all these planets, and 70% of its surface is covered with saltwater! Now millions (including innocent babies & children) are dying each year as a result.

Got any other fairytales you expect me to be stupid enough to believe?

  • @psandbergnz

Of course it did not happen, but people who are too scared shitless to face the reality of mortality will grasp at whatever straws they can.

  • @selviskk

So your own versus you mention agree that that this refers NOT to destruction of jerusalem but to the final judgment which is preceded by christ's millennial reign (i.e. jesus' kingdom). after all, no historian recorded the sun going out or moon turning to blood in 70 a.d. LOL The bible, like all other religious scriptures contains lots of errors. 99.99% of the BELIEVERS of the 22 major religions all adhere to the religion of the culture into which they were born. COINCIDENCE????

  • @selviskk

You mention acts 2:17-21:AND I WILL GRANT WONDERS IN THE SKY ABOVE AND SIGNS ON THE EARTH BELOW, BLOOD, AND FIRE, AND VAPOR OF SMOKE. 20'THE SUN WILL BE TURNED INTO DARKNESS AND THE MOON INTO BLOOD, BEFORE THE GREAT AND GLORIOUS DAY OF THE LORD SHALL COME.

If you google"day of the lord" you'll see that nearly all theologian scholars of BOTH christianity & judaism cay this refers to the end of time when all who ever lived are judged.

  • @selviskk

Just as 99.99% of all dispensationalists were raised as such, 99.99% of all preterists were raised as such, thereby proving that people don't really "believe" in the sense of an open-minded adult choosing to believe. Rather, they were programmed by their particular culture/subculture to accept the narrow perspectives of its religious mythology.

  • @selviskk

Since I call myself a complete fool for having once vested a greater stock in believing through make-believe as opposed to knowing through knowledge, I don't consider it "a lack of decency" if I mention how I, and others, have been turned to fools by an obvious lack of courage. You reference the "Kingdom of god," but that is distinct from Jesus' Kingdom, which refers to Christ's millennial reign. Not only does jesus say HIS kingdom, but he also says his judgment seat-another clue

  • @96rorrim Sad how a lack of common decency manifests when people hide behind keyboards and computer screens. "But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God IS COME TO YOU." Matt 12:28 "Neither shall they say, See here! or, see there! for, behold, the kingdom of God IS WITHIN YOU." Luke 17:21 The "coming with His kongdom" was fulfilled at pentacost (see acts 2:17-21) - the outpouring of The Holy Spirit, and sealed when Jerusalem was destroyed (see note on Isaia 19:1).
