Agreed the Fleming's mannerisms and somewhat distracting. But her voice was at it's most beautiful around this time and she is always exceptionally expressive. Considering the lack of capable Fiordiligis on the market this recording (only in my opinion) is the one to own.

I'm getting tired of reading comments whose elitism in their arrogance would try to maintain that music (and yes Mozart is music) comes from such elitism that it wouldn't be human or contain emotions, all the depth that has transcended time wouldn't be there; and you would be writing trying to "defend" music that's long been forgotten, as if this is the Mozart you thought you could keep under lock and key, for yourselves. Renee sings this beautifully, with heart and guts!

Charming! Superb voice!!!

Was that a pordamento in the A section? And an octave run in the repeat? Light ornamentation in Mozart repeats is great. Stupidity is not.
[Something tells me someone plowed over Solti, who usually shows excellent taste]
The horns, flutes, and second violins are especially excellent, though!

Fleming has a great voice and an ego to match. This is fine in some music where torchiness amplifies the emotion. But not Mozart.

no...non mi convince!...è una bravissima cantante, grandissima tecnica, ma qui non c'è Mozart...la trovo anche un'interpretazione piuttosto noiosa

Don't like it at all...congrats to french horn players..what a fantastic job...but renée, i am disapointed, cause mozart wrote it, not you with all your variations ;) still, the orchestra, perfect.
Muchisimas gracias, que maravilla, absolutamente perfecta.
