@xxfisher321xx it takes only 3 gallons of water to make a gallon of ethanol. You were off by 1197 gallons ass.

The most exhaustive study on ethanol’s EROEI, by Isaias de Carvalho Macedo, shows an alcohol energy return of more than eight units of output for every unit of input—and this study accounts for everything right down to smelting the ore to make the steel for tractors.

well for once a i agree with you. Biofuel is more expensive, and pollutes more than oil. Plus we could use food products for a more important purpose, like food. We need an alternative energy source, but not this.

Sugar cane and sorghum are the answers. I heard cattails as well can have their starches convertedi into sugars. However, sorghum produces sugary syrup (like sugarcane) that can be use to make ethanol. Bi-products are edible-grain and silage or hay. We can grow sorghum in all of the country and we can grow sugar cane in all of the south, as well as california. Not to mention, Puerto Rico, the virgin islands etc. And maybe cuba can start gowing it and selling it to us.

there testing nuclear fusion reactors that have no waste or polution unlike fission reactors and they produce alot more electric and its safer and they have a much longer life span compaired to fission every few years they have to replace the uranium/plutonium rods. chernobyl was caused by a flaw. the person who was incharge of builting it rushed it so he could get paid a bonus and they dint insert the sensers into the reactor properly and there was a hotspot that they couldnt see.

geothermal plant is new technology and way to go... look it up

I think we should invest in the most cheapest and effective way for power. Gas, Nuclear, Wind, Solar, Water ect.

i hope food prices would go up a little so i would conserve food and be in better shape.

To make one gallon of ethanol. It takes, 1.2 Gallons of Petroleum, 450 pounds of corn, and 1,200 gallons of water. Interesting, and it only gets 1/3 of the energy that Regular gas can supply.

Yeah, it's like shooting yourself in the foot while jogging... doesn't make much sense does it. I think solar is truly the answer, but tell that to the oil companies.

Thank you fishmarc.... I am so saddened with the news lately about world hunger and food shortages. This is only part of the reason, but it's a start. What good is fuel for our vehicles if we don't have fuel for our stomachs? Millions upon millions will die in the very near future, and I think this is only the beginning. We should also stop eating meat and raping our planet of it's resources. Everyone should just take a few steps backwards and appreciate what we have, before its gone.
