We have no news of the arrests of Alireza and Soorena. Last week I traveled to Orumiyeh for about five days. That is where they were last seen. I went to all organizations such as the Intelligence Ministry, the police, and any organization that might know anything about their whereabouts. They all told me that they had no news of them. Therefore I cannot really say that these kids were arrested. But it has been 12 days and there is no news on them. We dont know where they are or what they are doing. Their cell phones do not work either. On Saturday, Alirezas cell phone worked for half hour and I was able to call it. But it only rang. I was not able to speak to him. After that I lost all contact.

Well the news we have comes from printed news that they were in fact arrested. Are you worried about your son?

Mother of Alireza:

Thats exactly it. On Saturday someone came online with Alirezas ID and we were able to chat with him. We were only able to write to each other. But the things that were written was in complete contrast to the way Alireza talks. That doesnt prove anything to us as to their whereabouts. I asked the guy: What are you doing in Orumiyeh? He responded: You got me the ticket to Orumiyeh. But I had purchased the ticket to Tabriz not to Orumiyeh. Why did they end up in Orumiyeh?

Reporter:

Are you afraid that they might have been kidnapped?

Mother of Alireza:

Yes. During the chat he told me that he is living with a Kurdish guy! I asked him who, how, what are you doing at his house? He said things that did not make sense, things that did not even fit their schedule! They had traveled to Tabriz on a leisure trip. Maybe they went to visit Orumiyeh too. But the fact is that there is no news of them. Nobody responds to me. I dont know. Does it mean they have been arrested and they are leaving us in the dark? Or is it that the government doesnt know either? Nobody is even letting us know if they are alive! I went to the Intelligence Ministry two times and spoke to a man there. I went to the prison a couple times. I said to them: Just tell me that my son is here and he is alive. I am a mother!

Two questions: First can you explain the situation with Soorena? Second, let us assume your son is missing, is there at least a government organization who is responsible to go search for him? That is what they get paid for! Did you issue a formal complaint?

Mother of Alireza:

First regarding Soorena, as you know their university situation is not clear yet. They had nothing to do so they decided to go sightseeing in Tabriz. They might have decided to visit Orumiyeh also. Well they are young and we cannot stop them from having fun. And yes I have gone to police stations in Tehran and filled out a report. They searched all the hospitals, and even as painful as it was for me, they searched the coroners office and morgues as well. They did not find any signs of them. I then issued a complaint in Orumiyeh at the Intelligence office. I then filed a case at police station number 14. I then went to the central Intelligence office and filed another case. They took down his cell phone number and told me that they are going to find out where that number has been used in the past two weeks.
