Take a tour of Palacio Salvo in Montevideo, Uruguay -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats.

Montevideo is Uruguay's prize city and its largest port as well as the national capital.
One of the city's most iconic landmarks is the magnificent Palacio Salvo, in downtown.
Given its beautiful facade and unique styling, the name Palacio, meaning palace, seems a fitting title.
The building was constructed in the late 1920s, the creation of architect Mario Palanti.
The Palacio Salvo's singular appearance is a mixture of Art Deco and Gothic styles.
The initial plans for the structure were for its use as a hotel, but it became a residential and office building instead.

  • @nauort23 Yes. Hot and moist... less than in january though.

  • @baj0f0nd0 Thanks so much. Really looking forward to the cemeteries! Is it very hot there in February?

  • @nauort23 Palacio Salvo is located where the old part of the city starts, from that point up to the port it's all nice. 'Cerrito de la Victoria' has a great view and history. Parque Rodó is pretty cool and it has the first south american amusement park, rides arent much fun but it's pretty. "Rosedal del Prado" is beautiful. The "cementerio del buceo" is kinda charming and you have a great view between two bays over there. I personally think all our local cementerys are awesome. I hope you enjoy!

  • @nauort23 URUGUAY. Lociento!

  • I'm going to Montevideo next month. This building is #1 on my to-do list while in Uruaguay. Does anyone have any suggestions on what else I should see?
