The very last Furore concert, I'm afraid. Joyce DiDonato stepped in (with broken leg) for Rolando Villazon who had health problems. It was thus the only concert with Paul McCreesh conducting instead of Christophe Rousset.

@peres010492 Ah, good question. I've never asked me that, probably I'm always too focused on the singers. Here I find both conductors, both orchestras very much OK, quite similar. Do you have a preference?

I'm now curious about the CD version with Curtis. DiDonato wrote they had different opinions on the tempo. I hope SHE could convince him. Well, there is a Curtis version with Ann Hallenberg where I slept in before the singing even started.

@Gudrun74 Defiitely Paul McCreesh, Rousset did the same in CGA 2 years ago (already) same soprano (lol). How's Mirjana ?? Btw, just back from a fine Rameau concert with Concert des Nations, cond. by Jordi Savall. Perfect !!

@joopschilp Hi Joop, I've buried my last hope now that Marijana would ever return ... 2 days ago she was announced in Zurich in a Bach oratorio. But didn't show up. Very sad indeed.

@luvxl Hii! Indeed, the disappearance of MM is a very sad story, THE Senesino singer of our times. Last december she canceled a really tiny role in Zurich in a Bach oratorio (that was then sung by Cencic). Apropos, I cannot unfort. make it to TCE for Teseo, enjoy!

I'll hear Ariodante with JDD together with M-N Lemieux and K Gauvin under Curtis on Friday in Baden-Baden. This will be the music highlight of 2011 for me. :-)

Why does Joyce use all closed E vowels in her Italian? Not being overly critical, just saying even those at young artist level are criticized for that unless a conductor in a particular production demands it.
