No, he spoke Mandarin before he spoke Cantonese. He was born and raised in Taiwan (mother is Taiwanese, father is Okinawan). He learned Cantonese when he moved to Hong Kong in the 90's. He said his first language was actually Taiwanese. He then learned Japanese and English in school, then later Canto.

Did he know how to speak cantonese before mandarin? I know he speaks Japanese and english too.
