Buddha's Dream (8 of 9)

I took these pictures in the charming city of Vientiane, Laos PDR. The temple is called Sisaket. It's the oldest in the city and houses (official number) 6840 Buddha figures. The river is the Mekong, where the sun sets over Thailand and where you go if you want the best outdoor dining experience in the world. (Lao people cook Thai food better even than Thai people, plus they have their own exquisite cuisine which isn't as spicy, and it's all dirt cheap!) At city center is the Patousay, where the friendly Lao people gather to see the fountains at sunset and where the street vendors sell the best papaya salad anywhere. The ambience and beauty of Vientiane and its culture far surpass what is captured in these images, but to simply recall it can give you a sense of peace.
