Well, they've taken D'Onofrio and put him in the new series Blue Tilt on NBC - but you have a point of these two being the Columbo of our times. Wonder if Kathryn Erbe and Vincent D'Onofrio would be up for a few of those? NBC should test at least one such 2 hour movie before burying this series - because I agree with you - it's better than L&O: SVU.

@MaryCahill Yeah, I used to say maybe they've had enough & we should just let them go quietly. I now think these guys are up for it in the right circumstances. Their brand just keeps getting stronger. I'm not looking to offend but they outperform SVU convincingly for me & for many others I speak to. Maybe four or five telemovies a year would be the thing ? They could be the Columbo of our times. Nobody got sick of Columbo & I don't think folk will tire of these two. Quality usually reigns

These two belong together - D'Onofrio couldn't have been stronger backing Erbe saying that Eames cracks every case first - loved it! With so much NOT working on television these day - how anyone can knowingly throw away such a great plot idea and two beloved characters with established following? Is there a law against such professional or creative "homicide"? This proves that there ought to be!
