This sounds interesting. I visited Russia this past summer. I must now rent this movie!

I think it just comes down to the fact that Americans demand more car chases and shootings than the russian culture does to be fully entertained. This movie was a huge blockbuster and was one of the biggest films to open in their country, so it had to be great to them im assuming.

I agree with your thoughts on how the beginning of this film was extremely intense and then began to get a little slow. However, it is very common for Russian Films to be slow..And you are also correct about this film being mostly character developement. People complain that the shape shifters didnt play that big of a role in the film, however, in DayWatch, expect them to do something big. But like I said earlier, Russian films are known for being very long and slow.

We cut everything on Apple's Final Cut Pro. Any special effects are done in Adobe After Effects. But the text for this one was just simple fades in FCP.
