My name is Caitlin Townsend and I am a 24 year old from Peterborough Ontario. I know I have what it takes to become Canada's Next Great Prime Minister. I have completed an honours political science degree from the University of Western Ontario, and am currently taking a Masters degree in Public Policy and Management at the London School of Economics and Political Science, in London, England. I have been extensively involved in the Liberal Party of Canada, both at the provincial and federal levels. As well, I am currently the VP-Youth of the Ontario Women's Liberal Commission. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to audition for Canada's Next Great Prime Minister. I strongly believe that more youth as well as more women need to get involved in the political process, so I am auditioning for this program in hopes that this year's Next Great Prime Minister can be a young woman. My one great idea is quite short and simple: An Inter-Canadian University Exchange Program, fully funded and facilitated by the federal government. Canada is an incredibly vast and diverse country and continues to face unity issues, whether it be because of geographic location, language barriers, or simply social and cultural differences in daily living. Coming into the 21st Century, Canada has an opportunity to become a major world player, but in order to do so we must first be strong and cohesive at home. I believe allowing university students from all over Canada the opportunity to take a semester or year at another Canadian university will allow them to experience all the wonderfully diverse ways of life that are found across this great nation. An Inter-Canadian Exchange Program will encourage young Canadians to appreciate and embrace our differences, which will inevitably translate into a generation of Canadians that are more concerned about building a strong, united Canada, than squabbling about equalization payments and provincial successions. Please note: I filmed my submission while I was in Zambia and thought the limit for the video was MAX 3 mins (not the 3-5 mins that I realize now). Please forgive my short (but sweet!) video.I hope you enjoy, and I look forward to hearing your comments!Sincerely,Caitlin Townsend

Caitlin Townsend ,
Having a national unity program for university students would be great. I think it would teach our young people about the diversity in our country.
Happy Holidays!

We do have something similar to this... its the Summer Bursary Proramme through the federal government where you can go and study French at an institution of your choice... for free and for 6 weeks. It's an amazing experience that not enough people know about.

Caitlin-
I agree completely that more Canadians need to see more of their country. My concern, though, is that your plan is limited to those who will attend university. What about Canadians who choose other paths after high school?
