Mary asks in an email during the July 22, 2010 live Jewish Voice webcast, "Is it true that the Festivals were given to all people and not just the Israelites. My Christian friends don't believe me that they were and they say that it was only for the Israelites." Rabbis Jack Zimmerman, Crystal Lutton, and Eric Raider weigh in. http://www.jewishvoice.org

  • (continued 2) for 40 years from His death and Resurrection until every stone of the Temple was destroyed. For 40 years after the sacrifice at Golgotha, the Jewish High Priests remained, after which they have come to an end, for the Church is already present in the world. But never in the history of salvation did God ever leave with His voice to lead Israel, if only Israel would listen to Him. His voice is in the Church. The peace of the Lord be with you. Amen.

  • (continued) The Messiah is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world who was offered on the Cross. Salvation comes from the Jews. The Lord never left his inheritance Israel, He led them and saved them by his Right Hand. From Abraham to Moses, the kings, the prophets to the High Priests to the Messiah and His Church, God Himself leads his people. God removed one generation in the desert for 40 years before he allowed Israel enter the Promised Land, so too did he remove one generation...

  • The Children of Israel are called to Christ, who wants to gather them like the hen gathers her chicks, into the holy mother Church. The Kingdom of God is present on Earth in the Church. The Church is Jewish, believe it or not. It is the final arbiter of all the believers, both Jew and Gentile. The Jews are to keep the festivals of the Lord, they must be circumcised, keep the Sabbath, Passover, but not Yom Kippur nor the temple sacrifices for the perfect sacrifice had been offered already.

  • (continued) If someone says, I want to observe the Sabbath and celebrate the Passover to help me better remember and appreciate Messiah, my Passover Lamb - that's fine, too.

  • Gentile Christians have the freedom to celebrate the Sabbath and the Jewish holidays, or not observe them. If someone says, Messiah is my Passover and I don't need to celebrate a Passover Seder - thats fine. If someone says, Messiah is my Sabbath, and I'm resting in Him, and therefore I don't need to rest on the Sabbath - that's OK. If someone wants to observe the first day of the week as a day of rest and worship, he has every right to do so.
