Don't get me wrong Toney is a great fighter, but he ruined himself. At 5'8 he should'nt be 245 lbs. The reason why I don't cut him any slack is because I'm disappointed in him. The man was getting ready to blow, but he threw it away with lack of discipline just like Roy. But I see what you're saying. I'm sorry I didn't get it at first.

  • @130kali man, i know ur right, everything with the weight cuttin u said was correct it does affect you BIG TIME! what im saying though is wen toney cut down in weight and lost to roy, he was never giving his just due, never given the rematch.. however i do agree roy losing weight affected him BIG.

Watch toney vs Lebadev, in russia. toney is figthin at cruiserweight, hes cutting alot of fat to meet up for this fight.... its just like roy situation against Tarver.

  • You obviously are. James Toney situation is totally different. After the Roy fight he went up in weight and kept going up in weight. Roy Jones packed on muscles to fight Ruiz, and had to cut back down in 8 months. It was obvious before, during and after the Tarver fight that he wasn't the same. He was clearly weight drained and his body didn't look the same. I am not making excusing I'm stating a fact. BHOP said it himself what kept him fighting for so long is that he never played with weight.

  • @130kali james toney was over 200 pounds after Prince Charles William's fight and came down to 168 to fight roy after 4 months. he lost and that is roy's biggest victory after defeating the worst heavyweight ever! im not tarnishing Roys career, its comments like ur that make me wanna pick apart roys career. i love roy, but dont protect him too much, cuz it leaves you open. if toney lost fair and squar against roy, then roy lost fair and squar against ever opponent thats ko'd him.

People don't understand how that killed Roy Jones career. He was trying to make money, but in doing so he ruined his body. You have to look at time frame in which he went back down to light heavy weight. For a boxer at 34 that's too much weight and too soon to drop down. I run my butt off, but I can't get back down to my natural weight without killing myself. During my injuries I packed on so much muscle, so I understand what's going on with Roy.

  • @Beatbyawhiteboy

That's the problem I have. A lot of his well accomplished fights were fighters who had to move up in weight to beat him. When he went on that long reign of fights, Bernard wouldn't fight anyone. I watch this man fight Antwon Echols twice. He was a dirty fighter his whole career. I'm not saying he wasn't good or technical, but he was never prize fighter in my opinion.

  • @tonybonez

    lol who hasn't beaten Jermaine

  • @Beatbyawhiteboy Roy depended on his athletic abilities too much. he forgot his fundamentals, as far as being an athlete how they were 15-20 yrs ago theyre both shot. Bernard stayed with his fundamentals, thats what won the fight. plus a few dirty pot shots. but eh it happens.

  • @Beatbyawhiteboy

OK maybe Pavlik is hyped up a little, but he beat Jermaine taylor didnt he??

Winky is decent---Winky has massive talent and so does Tarver. Hopkins would have an impeccible record if not for the 2 losses to Jermaine taylor (what ever happened to him).

I notice you didn't refute the fact that BHOP is butt ugly hahaha. Dude just looks like a boxer!

  • Bernard Hopkins milked the middleweight titles 20 somethin' times against B, C, D level fighters, waited for the smaller name fighters to move up two weight classes to get their names on his resume, then waited til Roy was completely shot to get his name last. Bernard Hopkins is a con-artist. He never ever defeated someone who is his size that was great.
