    Old school Hip hop is great, but to say that all modern hip hop is bad just based on mainstream American artists is riduiculous. Most mainstream music in general these days isn't very good.

    Not true at all. Underground Hip Hop is highly innovative socially conscious and intellectual; it's justy that mainstream rap is mostly bad. Also clearly you've never heard Canadian Hip Hop, British Hip Hop, Australian Hip Hop etc. etc. etc. Hip Hop is VERY much alive all over the world.
