@RoniCMaster China was the autocratic power centre of East Asia. They invaded Korea, Vietnam several times since the Han dynasty(2nd century BCE) They have also invaded Turkestan and Tibet historically as well as Burma. China was not peaceful in any way. Though your point on the US is valid

@211Alucard U can find a reason from the concept of the permanent war economy by Ed Sard

The people who dont trust other people, they don't usually trust themselves. Like America.

china will conquer the world soon if they keep spending on military. Plus the 2 million Peoples Army. already they are using its might to impose on small asian nation like south korea, philippines and japan.

@RoniCMaster I totally agree. China only wants to protect itself and it's acquistion of resources from abroad. It's the US that is encircling and suffocating China. The US have military bases, in S Korea, Japan, Philippines, Vietnam, India, Afghanistan, etc. It seems everytime another nation wants to beef up it's military to deter US bullying, the US media goes bananas.

These Americans are totally BS. US is the biggest threat to everyone not China. US just want to maintain its domination role and therefore look for all execuses to justify its attack on other countries who are also developing their military power for defence.
-
STop exaggerate the threat of rising China. There is never a threat if you dont want threat others. How come no one complain about US military build up.

@CrazedStalinist What perspective is that? What is the common theme among the Foreign Policy Association, STARR foundation, Carnegie corporation, Shell and the EC? Did you watch the program?

The Chinese have a rich history of rehearsed "internal" war mongering and are practiced in the Art of War. Who cares where they have exercised it? One day The sleeping giant will rear its well trained head, nationalist pride will rise and then we're all in trouble
For some reason the US is all ways trying to find a enemy or creating one.

If China's military buildup is such a problem, why is US military buildup seen with such normalcy? What's with the double standards here? China has almost always been peaceful when it comes to international relations throughout its 5000 years of civilization. They don't meddle in other people's countries. Last I check, it wasn't China that force African countries unequal treaties, it wasn't China that invaded Iraq and Afghanistan and it wasn't China that have 200 international military bases.
