It is a 12 bar blues, but count in cut time, so the backbeat is not on 2 and 4 but on three, hope that helps.

Are the drum breaks adding two beats or something, or do I just fail at counting? Does anyone have any tips on how to stay focused on the beat while the drummer is totally messing with it? Short of mentally counting?

I wasn't aware that it was actually a drum solo in the middle, backed up by bass. his bassist is phenomenal, his tone reminds me of Juan Alderete. I like the ramped jazz bass.
