um no... Have you been the the apple website lately? 4gb RAM, 2.53ghz intel core 2 duo... for under 1500... you are very highly mistaken... and even if they don't weigh much more, they're bigger, and more plastic like, which just makes them cheaper, and all creaky. Macbook anyday.

That's today's prices, this ad was made before March. As I said the best Macbook he could get for $1500 WAS a 2GHz P7350 with 2GB RAM and shared graphics. By todays prices the $1500 Macbook you mentioned would cost under $900 with most other manufacturers.

And how is it bigger? compared to a 15" macbook it's slightly bigger, but compared to a 17" macbook its smaller. Laptops come in different sizes for different needs, if he wanted a 13" laptop he would have chosen one.

my 2 cents, my powerbook g4 fell off the roof of my car doing 85mph i got a few minor dents but the screen and hard drive were all fine. any plastic laptop the plastic would have exploded into pieces. think about it plastic is hard so under pressure it will crack easier. Aluminum is soft. sure it will dent, being soft and there for having give to it structurally its more durableThink of a crash with a truck bed,hit from behind, it folds like an accordion if plastic it would have burst on impact.

It's nothing to do with the ductile nature of the body, its the ability to absorb impact. You're very lucky if the components of your powerbook survived a fall, since the metal body would have absorbed none of the impact. The components inside, mostly made of thin plastics, would normally shatter to pieces. Most laptops are made of hardened plastics designed to absorb impact and protect the screen and internal components. A cracked case is easy to repair, a shattered hard drive isn't.

i would deff say in any case luck did have alot to do with it lol but i guess the only thign i could say to that is well then why are cars made of metal instead of hardened plastics... I can tell u my powerbook was the best laptop i ever had an i had it for 6 yrs almost. 2nd best one i had was an IBM thinkpad running Xp. My roomate would throw that thing around into walls, lol took a chunk out of the corner of the body and that thing still worked. Was my fav win coputer i ever owned!!
