Scenes from kiln building class at Pottery Northwest http://www.potterynorthwest.org/ -- now that we know where the ports should be, do we just put them there? Not necessarily. There are also the principles of pragmatism and good masonry ("trying to think like a brick") that we'd want to follow whenever possible. And here we have a dilemma -- pragmatism/good-masonry and good burner location are off by 1/2" from each other. So, should we place the burner ports at the ideal locations, or should we put them where they line up with the other bricks around them (i.e. so we don't have to cut bricks and have a complicated scheme with much greater risk for screwing up)?
