Man, I reckon you're doing a great job. I have an SRV strat that I dig, and I got my eyes open for a JM strat as well. Just play and enjoy it!

When I used to play at your level (which is actually not so bad) I had a 200 € gtr... Something like 220 bucks... and on a 10W amplifier from Hiwatt (80€).. You got a John Mayer model and a Hotroad deluxe.. uhmm...

watch my newer stuff.. im getting better.. this was at the beginning of my mayer strat days.. not to say im any better.. but i can play this song much better.. now but not enough to compare to the pros all over youtube with this song.. such an awesome song
