We've put faith in the economy, we've made sacrifices; there are the clerics and guardians of the faith, so is there something insidious going on?
It appears there is a tearing down of beliefs in order to change public opinion, Edward Bernays style. People like Christopher Hitchens are employed to play on people ignorance. The purpose is not to sway everyone from Biblical belief (because he is not correct), rather he is brilliant at influencing a wide audience. For the past several decades those who make up the target audience for Hitchens and his ilk have become largely ignorant of scripture out of financial necessity. By playing on this ignorance, he is doing today what the 'church and state' did in the early history of apostate Christianity; and there is a distiction between apostate Christianity and Christianity, 'church and state' defining the former.
Are the major decisions today that are a danger to our environment and ultimately our future life prospects entirely the result of religion? Or rather the combined failure of religion, government, media and educational institutions (the gatekeepers)?
What would be the objective of discarding religion? Will we then live in peace and harmony and hold hands as atheiests? The evidence is very good that the current market philosophy regardless of religion is on a destructive course.

We simply need to change our minds. Consider oneness. Awaken. Make conscious decisions based on the worldwide effect. Purge materialism. Embrace all. Abandon the ego. Be peaceful. Live and let live.

It doesn't take a profit or a genius to have predicted the current state of affairs for mankind. Man has inherently fed his ego via consumption since the beginning of time. Subsequently, we have become slaves to the World Bank economy. "If one makes one's ego the internal reference point, it requires one to be offended" D.C.

...The economy is the lifeblood of the world. The economy is actually respect the laws of physics. Any liberal mindset will destroy the balance and cause economic bubbles and will leave people houseless. Claiming that the economy is not important is pure idiocy, i am sorry to say. Claiming the economy isn't important is like saying we as human beings do not need blood to live. I am open to other alternative forms of economies, but to claim it has no purpose is like denying your body food.
