  • hi paul,i was wondering to start traing this should i play practice games with a heavier racket and for tournament games use my yonex nanospeed 5500?

  • @thebuoshoninja

To begin with do the exercises and see how much you improve over say 2-3 weeks.

Training racquets are very good but should be used sparingly.

  • Hi Paul , im from Malaysia , and its so hard to find Yonex's grips here . But im currently using one now , and everytime i use it , the grip's colour is getting darker and darker . And the feeling to the grip isnt as how it used to be . How do i stop that kind of problem for my grips ?

  • @DjRaverX

Many thanks for your question. Overall, there is little you can do. Grips are consumables in badminton and therefore need changing frequently.

Many players in your country use towel grip because it absorbs sweat better. Test a few grips to find what works best for you and then get lots of them as you will use them.

  • Hi Paul,Thanks for all the exercises.

    I have a question whether i could use dumbbells(2kg) for exercises 1,2 & 4.

    I am 15 years old.

  • @TheKanishk30

The exercises are designed to use simple objects. I wouldn't use dumbells with these exercises but there are exercises you can easily do with dumbells that can mimic the movement.

Peter, this will depend on the player. I wouldn't advise anything heavy for children. But an adult should be able to cope with 2kg easily and increase the weight over time. For some players they may wish to begin with a heavier weight e.g. 5kg - that should be fine.

Overall, you need to test to find what works for you but the key is not to add too much weight. The maximum I have ever done is 2 full size bricks together, however I built up to this.

  • Hi Paul, what weight should I use in the "stone" exercise please?

    Peter

  • i realy like to exercise with this

    !!!

A few players have told me about the Powerball. I know so many exercises I don't see the need for yet another tool in my bag. I now use special training racquets too which are brilliant.
