Fanfare to Joy - performed by the Florida Middle School All-State Band

The Florida Middle School All-State Band opens their concert at the 2009 FMEA convention in Tampa, FL with Fanfare to Joy, an arrangement of Beethoven's famous theme by Michael Story (note: the program misspelled the arranger's name).

Under the direction of Mrs. Laura Singletary, L.B. Johnson Middle School, Melbourne, FL

This theme, from the last movement of Beethoven's 9th Symphony ("Choral" because a chorus sings with the orchestra) was written after Beethoven had gone deaf. Michael Story has arranged this theme into a fanfare. Listen for snippets of the original tune intertwined in the triumphant and energetic conclusion of the piece.
