It seems a bit unintuitive, specifically with the zoom and swipe motions. Have you ever tried to keep a finger near an object without touching it, when not focusing on it?
Maybe add a touching across-swipe for back and a touching down-swipe (up-swipe?) for zooming, as redundant controls.
