"is" doesn't mean "in". ===== It means "to"

As, Where are you going? I am going to the City

In Greek: Εις την πόλιν = TO THE CITY (Is tin Poliν)

Since It was the bigest city in both the Byzantine and Ottoman Empires (and perhaps the entire world), It wan't necessary to specify which City.

The Turkish word for city is "bolu" a version of the Greek word for City.

So, if you subsitute "bolu" for "Polin"

You get ISTANBUL ==== This is where the name derives from !!!

  • @zoidejavu

but now istanbul in turkey so you shut up!!!!!!!!!

  • Dear Jeffanos,

I can say that i respect your emotions regarding to missing Istanbul however i'd like to remind you that We are not only Turkish my friend, we are also the grandsons and granddaughters of Ottoman Empire who conquered Istanbul from your grandfathers and mothers. Besides, im very sorry for your dark days in Greece (Byzantine) but i can invite you to Istanbul for visit only because it is shining here and always will inshallah..

  • We aren't only Greeks my friends we are something more than that we are Romioi Rüm as our neighbours used to call us...We have Greek civilisation as basis but our modern character was developed in the middle ages with Byzantine Empire...The most importanrt city of our nation isn't Athens Costantinople is our true Capital something we should always remember especially in those dark times..

  • @GudMuzlim786 Yes my friend. It was, it is and it will be a beautiful city.

  • Bazi filmler vardir insanin defalarca izlemek istedigi ve her izleyisinde ilk kez izliyormus gibi sevindigi, iste Bir Tutam Baharat benim icin bu tur filmlerden biri . Defalarca izledim, izleyecegim. Muzigi de bir baska guzel, defalarca dinledim, dinleyecegim:)) Tesekkurler yuklediginiz icin. Love from Istanbul:))

  • @zoidejavu It still is a wonderful city in Europe brother! It was very useful being the capital for 2 Great empires! Byzantines and later Ottomans! It's remarkable with both Byzantine and Ottoman monuments!

  • The current name of Contantinoples is İstanbul not Istambul but greeks say yet Constantınople,Vasilevousa,Nea Romi(new Rome) and Poli.

The main thing is that was and is a beautiful city and not the name,is my opinion.

  • Vi la película anteayer y me enamoró... llevo muchos años queriendo conocer Estambul, pero ahora sé que lo haré y no tardando mucho. Excelente video y excelente canción :)
