Now pointed nails aren't very popular for everyday wear, so if you are one who likes to follow the trends this how to is most likely not for you, But if you are someone like me who doesn't care about trends, or perhaps needs these for Halloween (i.e if you are going as say a vampire, werewolf, or something else that has pointed nails or claws) keep watching.

Note 1: this is mainly for people with longer nails, if you have shorter nails it may also work but the results will not be the same.

Now this is actually only 2 simple steps so it will not take long.

I have chosen this picture as a reference so I am just going to black out the background and just use these three fingers.

Now the first thing you want to do is take your fingernail clippers and at a angle cut your fingernail, I always use my finger as a starting point and the cut the angle so it blends into the same angle of the top of my finger, you can do less if you don't want them as pointed, or more if you choose.

Now all you do is file down the roughness and even give it a somewhat rounded point if you like, this was you are less likely to injure yourself or others.

and that is it, now you are ready to paint them if you want or just leave them natural and go have some fun.

Note 2: pointing your nails does make them a bit weaker while they are pointed and they are more likely to snag, just a quick heads up. Hope this helped everyone, and good luck.

NOTE: My next nail art tutorial will probably be out this Friday or Saturday :)

  • Can you use long stick on nails?? ( I need this for a temporary cat costume )

  • @Curlycrap

um you can, now cutting them I am not sure, my nails are real and I am not sure if fake nails will split or anything if you cut them like this, they shouldn't though.

  • Wtf is up with the song lol...good video though

  • @DeesLogic

it's not a song, just wolves howling, I did this how to for my werewolf nail art lol

  • Could you also do this with acrylic nails? Mine are far too short.....

  • @Stormausssie

You might be able to, I don't use acrylics so I am unsure if they are weaker then natural nails.

  • Re: Note 2 in your comments. Having kept mine at points for the past 17-18 years, they don't snag any more than rounded nails, in my experience. How strong they are when kept at points is dependent on each person's nails. I can do pottery and dig holes in sandy beaches with no problem. :)

Re: pointing acrylic nails. It can be done. I tried it out of curiosity years ago. I forget exactly how I did it. Think I cut them a little and the rest was filed down. They felt strange to me, though.

  • @InfernoSnipeShot

  • I wanna do this so i can leave ten holes in someone i dont like lol

  • @cthaNi

LOL actually I just used some wolves howling. I wanted it to kinda fit because I pointed my nails for a werewolf claw nail art video.
