VIEW ROYAL -- Jeneece Edroff drove up to the centre named after her today, for the first time. Passing her drivers test last week is just the latest milestone for the young woman who has raised more than a million dollars for children's pediatric care, and most recently Jeneece Place.
The centre is set to house families from up and down Vancouver Island whose children are undergoing treatment at Victoria General Hospital. Edroff herself knows what a safe, welcoming place can do to ease family pain. She has had many surgeries over the years to remove tumors related to neurofibromatosis, and says it was hard staying in hospitals.
The new 10,000 sq. ft facility will be a home away from home, just steps from the hospital. With ten bedrooms big enough for the whole family, a large common kitchen, and games and crafts rooms, it's a place where kids can go to escape during treatment.
Flooring and finishing's inside are now being put in, while landscaping outside is coming together. Jeneece Place is set to open and hit the ground running on January 18th 2012, the same day Jeneece turns 18.
