When one asks a child on the streets of Haiti "What's up?" They say "Bagay Dwol," (pronounced: BAG-AY-DWOLL) which means "Strange Things" in Creole. It is this perspective that makes the staggering amount of homeless children in Haiti resilient, although they are almost forgotten by their own government and internationally. "Strange Things" is an honest portrait of Haiti through the eyes of "street boys," and after the wake of recent political turbulence.

The film takes place in the Northern city of Cap-Haitian where the land is lush and where the history runs deep. It is a landscape of contrasts, and the site where Haiti won its Independence in 1804.

Shot on Super-16mm film, super 8, underwater photography, and DV, "Strange Things" documents a Haiti that is virtually unknown.

  • I see the problems. What is there to do to help? If the govenment doesn't want change, how can any nation help Haiti? It is so sad, but all we can help is one person at a time. It makes a differenct in that person's life, but how to change the country??? Then you better a society. But I don't have the answer.

  • There is no answer. And this film explains that this is a very complex problem. My goal is that this film sheds positive light on Haiti and also gives these boys a voice. Thanks for writing. I look forward to showing you the final film!

  • is this a movie? when is it coming out? and where can i get a copy?

  • It should be finished before the new year. I'm still trying to raise the last bit of money. Thanks for checking in. I will keep you posted!!

  • Please let me know how to see your movie when you are finished with it.

  • Yes I will. I'm hoping the film will be finished by December. I will keep you informed. Thank you for your support! ; )

  • That is a lie. I have been in Haiti and formed relationships with all different types of Haitians there. With my own eyes I have never seen a lazy Haitian, Quite the opposite.

Haiti isn't poor because of laziness, you look very ignorant right now.

  • its a disgrace on all of us to see children or anyone like this.while the greedy fat cats have it all i dont no how they sleep at night ,one pair of beckham sun shades would feed this lot a yr or more.

  • I was there in 2010 and those kids still out there.preval never cared and the new president too.

  • All the talk about the illuminate ! Well Haiti was an early test case. England , France, Germany and the USA have all had a hand in crushing Haiti. As Haiti go so goes the rest of the world.

  • @HammProductions there are answers to these problems and it is not that complex, Haiti had much more prosperous periods of time in its History and my documentaries explain this.

  • haiti needs to have a new complete goverment make over..abolish the whole system and start a brand new one just like every other corrupted goverment around the whole has done...example IRAQ, Afraganstan, etc etc.. its a must haiti goverment be destroyed for a new start....

  • Wow that was 2 years ago .

imagine them now , after the hurricane .

If they have scars on their body they can't go to other countries or they will send them back .

Sad, It's ashame how all this time people Haiti has been needing help and people here has ignored it .

It's sad how to takes a hurricane to hit them and millions to die for us to now notice how much help they need.

    Sad, I say again .

  • I love to hear Haiti's children speak-contrary to big media views they r conscious & fully aware of the slow trickle down, hunchback-progress state , hopeful to create new life for their sort. The grassroots inside Haiti need money to feed more kids & more media to show what they do. It seems always a white person pictured in the Times working inside Haiti has a grassroots movement-we can fuel them to make life for these kids-Lp Author of General Authority

  • no thanks to us, the people, and the efforts of our government...

  • There is a difference between going hungry and luxury items. Even if they are happier it doesnt mean they dont have the right to food and clean water and basic rights...
